Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here Wildwood beach concert thing. It’s a big to-do, they say. Folks comin’ from all over, just like them city slickers flockin’ to the shore for a good time.
They call it somethin’ fancy, somethin’ like “Barefoot Country Music Fest.” Sounds like a mouthful to me. I just call it a beach party with guitars. They got all these singers, big names they say. Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Kane Brown… Never heard of ’em myself, but the young’uns seem to like ’em. They got that twangy sound, you know, makes ya wanna stomp yer feet and clap yer hands.
It’s down there in Wildwood, on the beach. Right between them Morey’s Piers. You know, the place with all them rides and games. Kids love it, makes ’em scream and holler. But this here concert, it’s for the grown-ups too. They got beer and food, all sorts of stuff. Not like the old days, when we just had a picnic basket and some lemonade.
They say it’s the biggest country music thing around these parts. “Northeast’s largest outdoor country music festival,” they call it. Big words, huh? Means lots of people, lots of music, lots of fun. Or so they say.
- They got music on the beach, right there in the sand. Imagine that! Sand in yer shoes, sun on yer face, music in yer ears.
- And they got music in the park too. Centennial Park, they call it. Fern Road and Ocean Avenue. Nice and grassy, good for settin’ down a blanket.
They play all sorts of country music. Some of it’s fast, some of it’s slow. Some of it makes ya wanna dance, some of it makes ya wanna cry. But it’s all country, that’s for sure. None of that fancy city music, you know, the kind with all the beepin’ and boppin’.
This here festival, it ain’t just for the young’uns. They say it’s “family-friendly.” That means the whole family can come. Grandma, Grandpa, Mom, Dad, the kids… everybody’s welcome. They got stuff for the little ones to do, so they don’t get bored. And the grown-ups can enjoy the music and the food and the, uh… “scenic beaches.” That’s what they call ’em. Just means the beach is pretty, I guess.
And it ain’t just one concert, mind you. They got music all summer long. Every Wednesday and Saturday at that Centennial Park, and every Sunday night at Fox Park. Free concerts, they say. Can’t beat that, can ya? Just bring a blanket or a chair, and enjoy the music. It’s a good way to spend an evenin’, I reckon.
Folks used to just come to Wildwood for the beach and the boardwalk. Now they comin’ for the music too. Times are changin’, I guess. But some things stay the same. The sun, the sand, the sea… and people wantin’ to have a good time. That’s what it’s all about, ain’t it?
So if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do this summer, head on down to Wildwood. Listen to some music, wiggle your feet in the sand, and enjoy yourself. It’s a good time, I tell ya. Even if you don’t know who them singers are, you’ll still have fun. Trust me on that.
And remember this ain’t no city slicker fancy pants party, this is a good old down to earth family friendly music bash!
