Well, hey there, y’all! Let’s jaw about this Dalton high school football thing, you know, the scores and all that. I heard folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the store, so I figured I’d put my two cents in, even if I don’t know nothin’ ’bout fancy sports and such.
First off, them Dalton Catamounts, that’s what they call ’em, they got themselves a football team. I reckon they play on Friday nights, ’cause that’s when the young’uns get all riled up and noisy. Heard tell they got a schedule and a roster, whatever that means. Sounds like a whole lotta names and dates to me. They even got rankings! Like someone’s keepin’ score of who’s the best. Well, I guess that’s the whole point, ain’t it?
Now, this Mixx 104.5, they broadcastin’ the games live. I ain’t got no fancy radio, just the old one in the kitchen, but I bet them youngsters are glued to it every Friday. Yellin’ and hollerin’ at the radio, I imagine. Probably spills their sweet tea all over the place too, just like my grandkids.
- They play on Friday nights, that much I know.
- And they got somethin’ called a Varsity Football schedule. Makes it sound real important, that Varsity word.
- Seems like they got a whole bunch of games, startin’ in the fall, I think. Folks start talkin’ ’bout football when the leaves start turnin’.
I heard someone say somethin’ ’bout OHSAA Division VI somethin’ or other. Sounded like a whole lotta gibberish to me. But I reckon it’s important for them football folks. They had some kinda regional finals, too. That must be a big deal, like the county fair, but with more gruntin’ and less pie.
They played a game on Friday, November 8th, 2024. I remember that day ’cause it was the day old Bessie the cow had her calf. A good day, that was. Don’t know if Dalton won or lost, but I hope them boys gave it their all.
They was talkin’ ’bout games from Rootstown-Field to Mogadore-Dalton and Alliance-Streetsboro. Sounds like they travel all over the place for these games. Must be tirin’ for them young fellas, ridin’ around on them buses. Reminds me of when we used to take the old pickup to town for supplies. Long bumpy rides, they was.
If you want to keep up with them scores, they say you gotta go to the WKBN scores page. They got all the high school football scores on there, or so I’m told. They even got somethin’ called conference battles and standings. Sounds like a whole heap of competition. Makes me think of the pie-bakin’ contest at the church social, always a fierce battle for that blue ribbon.
So, yeah, that’s about all I know about this Dalton High School football thing. They play games, they got scores, and folks get all worked up about it. It’s a whole lot of hoopla, if you ask me. But hey, if it keeps them young’uns outta trouble, then I reckon it’s a good thing. And if Dalton wins, well, that’s just the cherry on top, ain’t it?
Dalton High School… it’s a name I hear a lot around here. Seems like the whole town gets involved when football season rolls around. They talk about it at the diner, at the post office, even at the beauty parlor where I get my hair done. Can’t escape it, even if you wanted to. So, I figure, might as well try to understand it a little bit, even if it ain’t my cup of tea.
They say this high school football is a big deal for these kids. Teaches ‘em teamwork, and discipline, and all that. I guess that’s important. Lord knows, my grandkids could use a little more discipline. Maybe I should make ‘em watch a football game or two. Might do ‘em some good.
Now, I ain’t gonna pretend I understand all the rules of the game. All that runnin’ and passin’ and tacklin’… it’s enough to make your head spin. But I do know this: when them Dalton Catamounts score a touchdown, the whole town cheers. And that’s a good feeling, even for an old lady like me. So, go Catamounts! Or whatever it is they say. Just win the game, that’s all I ask.
And remember, if you wanna know the Dalton High Football score, you gotta go to that WKBN website or listen to that Mixx radio station. That’s what the young folks tell me, anyways. Me? I’ll just wait for the newspaper to come out on Monday. That’s how we used to do it back in the day, and it worked just fine.
So, that’s the story on Dalton high school football, as far as I can tell. It’s a whole lotta fuss and bother, but it seems to make folks happy. And that’s what matters, in the end, ain’t it? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my biscuits. Don’t want ’em burnin’ while I’m sittin’ here jawin’ ’bout football.
