Well, let me tell ya, this weather thing, it ain’t somethin’ I ever really understood. But they say July 21st, 2024, gonna be… somethin’. Heard tell it’s gonna be hot, maybe sticky. Don’t rightly know for sure, mind you, weather folks, they ain’t always right.
Weather, Weather, Always Changin’
These city folks, they got all these fancy ways of lookin’ at the sky. Say they can tell ya what’s comin’ days ahead. Five days? Maybe they get it right most times. Ten days? Shoot, that’s just guessin’ in my book. They say 80 percent right for a week out and 90 percent for five days, but longer than that, it’s like flippin’ a coin, half the time they’re wrong, you know.
- Hot as a furnace, maybe. Heard tell it could get up to 30 degrees, whatever that means in real feelin’.
- Could rain too. July, she’s a wet month sometimes. They call it “monsoon season,” all fancy-like. Means it pours buckets, then it might just dry up after a while.
Now, I remember back in the day, we just looked at the clouds. Red sky at night, shepherd’s delight. Red sky in the mornin’, shepherd’s warnin’. Simple as that. No need for all these numbers and charts.
What to Expect, Maybe
So, July 21st. If you’re in them big cities, like that Toronto place they talk about on the radio, you can probably find all sorts of details. Highs and lows, feels like, all that jazz. They got them reports sayin’ it might be 23 to 30 degrees, but also wet. But out here in the country, we just gotta feel it out. Is the wind blowin’ from the east? That usually means rain. Are the birds flyin’ low? Another sign.
I heard they said this summer, it’s gonna be hot, sticky nights, and lots of rain early on, then dry later. Sounds about right for July, I reckon. They had a whole report about it, sayin’ this summer was gonna be hot, real hot, and rain a bunch then stop. Don’t rightly know what all them big words mean, but I get the gist of it.
They talk about “historical averages” too. Means what it’s usually like, I guess. But weather ain’t no average thing, is it? It does what it wants, when it wants. One day it’s sunshine, next it’s a downpour. You just gotta be ready for anything.
No Typhoons, Thank the Lord
One good thing, ain’t no typhoons brewin’, not that I heard tell of anyway. Them things are nasty, tear up everything in their path. So, that’s somethin’ to be thankful for, I suppose.
If you really wanna know the weather, find yourself an old timer. Someone who’s been watchin’ the skies for years. They’ll tell ya better than any of them fancy machines. They don’t need no “extended forecast” or “feels like temperature”. They look at the sky, feel the wind, and they know. Or at least they think they do.
Just Gotta Wait and See
So, July 21st, 2024? Could be hot, could be wet, could be both. Ain’t no way to know for sure till it gets here. Me? I’ll be sittin’ on the porch, watchin’ the clouds, and waitin’ to see what the good Lord sends our way. That’s all you can really do, ain’t it?
And if you are plannin’ on goin’ somewhere, like up to Canada way next year, they say they can kinda guess what it’ll be like. But that’s a whole ‘nother story, and a long ways off. Right now, I’m just thinkin’ about tomorrow, and maybe the day after that.
Don’t Worry Too Much
Weather’s gonna do what weather’s gonna do. No point frettin’ over it too much. Just dress in layers, carry an umbrella, and hope for the best. That’s my advice, anyway. Take it or leave it, it don’t cost ya nothin’.
