Alright, let’s talk about this Red Hot Chili Peppers gig, the one they had in Hershey. Heard it was a big deal, lots of folks went.
So, who opened for them? That’s what everyone wants to know, right? Well, from what I gather, they had all sorts of folks playing before them. One time it was this gal, St. Vincent, makin’ some kinda wild music. Sounded like nothin’ I ever heard before, all screechy and such. Then there was this rapper fella, Ice Cube, which is kinda strange for them Chili Peppers, ain’t it? They had Kid Cudi too, and some other bands I never even heard tell of. This Ken Carson fella, Otoboke Beaver – now that’s a funny name – Seun Kuti, Wand, and IRONTOM. All kinda different, you know?
Seems like the Chili Peppers, they like to mix things up. One time they even had Iggy Pop openin’ for ‘em. Can you believe that? Iggy Pop! He’s been around longer than I have, I reckon. And The Roots, they played too, and some band called The Mars Volta. Oh, and King Princess, that’s a girl, ain’t it? So yeah, they had all sorts of folks warm up the crowd.
One time, in Cincinnati I think it was, these two youngsters, DOMi and JD Beck, they opened. Folks seemed to like ‘em. Another time, way down in Australia and New Zealand, they had that Post Malone fella. He’s real popular with the young’uns.
- St. Vincent: That’s the screechy gal.
- Ice Cube: The rapper, you know, the one from the movies.
- Kid Cudi: Another rapper, kinda spacey.
- Iggy Pop: Now he’s a real wild one.
- The Roots: They’re a whole band, lots of instruments.
- Post Malone: The young’uns love him.
Now, about that Hershey show… it was at Hersheypark Stadium, September 27th. That was in 2023, just last year. They played there before too, way back in 2000. Seems like they like Hershey. Probably like the chocolate, just like the rest of us.
I heard they played all their big songs. You know, the ones everyone knows. But sometimes they switch things up. Like that “Under the Bridge” song? Sometimes they don’t play it, play somethin’ else instead. Keeps things interestin’ I guess.
So, when do they actually come on stage, you ask? Well, that depends on when the whole thing starts. If it starts early, like around 6 or 6:30, then they’ll come on later. You gotta be patient, that’s all. And make sure you got good shoes on, ‘cause you’ll be standin’ for a long time.
This whole thing, it was part of their big world tour, they called it the “Global Stadium Tour” last year and the “Unlimited Love Tour” before that. They went all over the place, playin’ for all sorts of people. Good for them, I say. Keepin’ busy, keepin’ the music alive.
Anyways, that’s the gist of it. Lots of different folks openin’ for them Chili Peppers, all over the world. And that Hershey show, it was a big one. Hope everyone had a good time.
Just remember, get there early, wear comfy shoes, and be ready for a long night of music. And maybe bring a snack, ‘cause those stadium snacks are expensive!
