Okay, so, let me tell you about this little adventure I had the other day. I decided to check out this place called Starplex 12 in San Marcos. It’s a movie theater, locally owned, you know, the kind I like to support. I heard it had closed down back in 2020, but apparently, it’s under new management or something.
I drove over to 1250 Wonder World Drive, which is where it’s supposed to be. Now, I’d read online that the place was like, 12.75 acres big, so I was expecting a pretty sizeable building. But when I got there, man, was I in for a surprise. The whole place was being demolished!
- I saw these big machines tearing down walls.
- There was dust everywhere.
- Workers were running around, busy as bees.
Turns out, they’re making way for some new project by a company called Long View Equity. I guess the old Starplex theater, which was, from what I gathered, about 45,247 square feet, was just sitting there, doing nothing. So, they decided to knock it down.
I did manage to snap a few pictures before I left. It was kind of sad to see it go, to be honest. I mean, I never even got to watch a movie there! But, hey, that’s progress, right? New things replace the old. Still, I wanted to share this little experience. You never know what you’ll find when you go exploring, even if it’s just a local movie theater that’s no longer there.
It’s a bit of a bummer since it seemed like a good theater according to some old reviews I found online. Someone even called it a “Good theatre” back in 2018. But, well, time moves on, I guess. Now I’m just curious what this Long View Equity is gonna build there. Maybe I’ll swing by again in a few months and see what’s up.
Anyway, that’s my story about the Starplex 12 in San Marcos. Or, well, what used to be the Starplex 12. Just thought I’d share my little adventure. You never know what you’ll stumble upon!
