Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Southern Boone baseball, you know, the kinda thing them young’uns get all riled up about. I don’t know much ’bout fancy sports and all, but I do know a thing or two ’bout watchin’ kids have a good time, and that’s what this baseball seems to be all about.
First off, they got this Southern Boone High School, right? Sounds fancy, but it’s just a school where these kids go to learn and play ball. They got this baseball team, and seems like they play a whole heap of games. I heard tell they got a schedule, a whole list of games they play. They call it the Southern Boone baseball schedule. I reckon it’s important so folks know when to go watch ’em play. They play other schools too, not just amongst themselves. Heard they call them opponents. Like rivals, I guess.
Now, this schedule, it ain’t just for one year. They got different seasons, like spring season and all that. So, they got a schedule for the 2023-2024 spring season and one for the 2024-2025 spring season too. Seems like a lot of games if you ask me. They even got scores and outcomes, which I guess means who won and who lost. They put it all down so folks can keep track. They even say they got second place in somethin’ called “Class 4 District 8”. Sounds important, musta been a big game.
I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout how Southern Boone won their first-ever baseball title. Can you believe it? First time ever! Them kids musta been real proud, and their mamas and daddies too, I bet. They said it was historic, made history and all that. Guess it was a big deal for this little town. Folks were real excited, talkin’ ’bout it for days.
- They play a lot of games.
- They got a schedule to keep track.
- They play other schools.
- They won a big title once.
Then there was this game, somethin’ ’bout a state baseball Class 4 final four. Sounded real important. They were losin’ for a while, but they kept playin’ hard. That’s what matters, you know, not givin’ up even when things get tough. Just like life, I reckon. You gotta keep on keepin’ on, even when you’re down.
Now, there’s this fella, Aaron Boone. I heard he’s a big deal in baseball, a manager for some team called the New York Yankees. He played ball too, for a long time. He ain’t from around here, I don’t think, but he’s got that Boone name, so maybe he’s got some kin round these parts. Anyways, he knows baseball, that’s for sure. He manages a major league team, which I guess is like the big leagues for baseball. They play in a place called Lee-Hines Field, somewhere down in Baton Rouge. That’s a long ways from here, but baseball’s a big thing, seems like it’s everywhere.
This Southern Boone baseball, it brings folks together. You see folks from all over comin’ to watch the games, cheerin’ on the kids. It’s good for the community, gives folks somethin’ to be proud of. And them kids, they learn a lot too, not just ’bout baseball, but ’bout teamwork and sportsmanship and all that. It keeps ’em outta trouble, mostly, and gives ’em somethin’ to do besides sittin’ around and gettin’ into mischief. So, I reckon Southern Boone baseball is a good thing, a real good thing.
