Listen up, y’all! Let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout this Walmart Black Friday thing back in 2014. Folks was buzzin’ like bees ’round a honeypot, talkin’ ’bout them sales.
Them Ads, They Was Everywhere!
Shoot, newspapers, TVs, even them fancy phones, they all had them Walmart ads. “Black Friday! Black Friday!” they screamed. Said there was gonna be deals on everything from them picture boxes to them game thingies the young’uns like so much.
I heard tell some of them ads leaked out early. Like, way before Thanksgiving even hit. Folks was already plannin’ and schemin’ on what they was gonna get. Walmart and Amazon, they was the big ones, you know? Always competin’ to see who could give the bestest deals.
- TVs, big and small.
- Them game machines, like Play-somethin’ and X-somethin’.
- All kinds of kitchen stuff, pots and pans and whatnot.
- Clothes for the whole family, from the littlest baby to the grandpa.
Now, I ain’t no expert on this stuff, but I heard tell Best Buy was another big place for deals that year. Electronics, they called ’em. Stuff that plugs in and lights up. Seemed mighty fancy to me.
Black Friday? What’s That All About?
Some folks say it’s the day after Thanksgiving, when everybody goes shoppin’ for Christmas presents. But I heard another story, too. Said way back when, them police fellas in a big city called it “Black Friday” ’cause it was so dang crowded and crazy with all the shoppers comin’ in from the country.
Anyway, back in 2014, this Walmart Black Friday was a big to-do. They even had them famous people on TV, doin’ little stories about the deals. Called it “Deals of Desire,” somethin’ like that. Sounded kinda silly to me, but I guess it worked, ’cause folks was linin’ up for days!
Walmart’s Hours, Regular as Rain
Now, some stores, they open up all night long on Black Friday, crazy like. But Walmart, they kept it simple. Opened at 6 in the mornin’, closed at 11 at night, just like always. No fuss, no muss. That’s how I like it.
Them ads, they started showin’ up way early. Like, October even! By the middle of November, they was everywhere you looked. Gettin’ folks all riled up for them sales.
I ain’t gonna lie, it was a bit of a madhouse that day. Folks pushin’ and shovin’, grabbin’ for them bargains. But I reckon some folks got some good deals. Me? I stayed home. Too much commotion for an old lady like me. I’d rather sit on my porch and watch the squirrels than fight over a TV.
But I tell you what, that Walmart Black Friday in 2014, it was somethin’ else. Folks talked about it for months after. Them deals, them crowds, it was a whole lotta hubbub! And I bet ya, this year ain’t gonna be no different.
So, What Did We Learn?
Well, we learned that Walmart and Amazon was the big dogs for Black Friday deals back then. We learned that them ads came out early and got folks excited. And we learned that Black Friday is a crazy day, but maybe you can snag yourself a good bargain if you’re brave enough to go out there and fight for it.
But remember, don’t go gettin’ yourself trampled now. Ain’t no deal worth that! Just sit back, relax, and maybe peek at them ads online. That’s what I do.
That’s all I got to say about that Walmart Black Friday in 2014. It was a wild one, that’s for sure.
