Alright, let’s talk about this Angel Reese Sky Town jersey thing. I saw my grandkid lookin’ at it online, all excited like a hog in mud. So, I figured, let me see what all the fuss is about.
First off, who’s this Angel Reese gal anyway? Seems like she’s a big deal basketball player. Plays for the Sky Town team, whatever that is. My grandkid says she’s real good, like one of them stars. Kids these days, they sure love their sports stars. Back in my day, we just played in the fields, didn’t need no fancy jerseys.

Sounds like a whole lotta choices, if you ask me. Too many, if you ask me. My grandkid wants the Rebel one, says it looks cool. Cool? It’s just a shirt with a name on it, but whatever makes ’em happy, I guess.
They sell these things everywhere, it seems. Amazon, Dick’s Sporting Goods, even that Fanatics place my grandkid keeps talkin’ about. And don’t forget about the WNBA store online. Seems like everyone’s sellin’ this jersey. Must be makin’ a pretty penny off it, I tell ya. Money, money, money, that’s all folks care about these days.
Prices? Don’t even get me started. Ninety dollars for a kid’s shirt? Thirty-two dollars for another one? What in the tarnation are they thinkin’? Back in my day, you could buy a whole dress for that kinda money. And these ain’t even fancy dresses, just them sporty shirts. Eighty-five dollars for an adult one, and some fancy artist ones go for ninety-five bucks. Lord have mercy. I told my grandkid, you better wear that thing till it falls apart if I’m gonna spend that kinda cash. You wear that shirt to school, to church, to bed, everywhere!
They got different sizes too, all them small, medium, large, whatever. And styles, too. They got somethin’ for everyone, I guess. Men, women, kids, even babies probably. It’s a whole jersey business, I tell ya. And don’t forget you can get shirts from places like Etsy and even eBay. eBay! I bought a toaster on there once. Didn’t work so good though.
My grandkid keeps talkin’ about how Angel Reese is from Maryland and played in Baltimore. Saint Frances Academy, they call it. I guess that’s a fancy school. And that she got a family, brothers and such. Julian and Mikael, I think. Good for her, havin’ a family. Family’s important, you know. More important than any ol’ jersey, that’s for sure.
They even got people you can book to talk to Angel Reese. “Athlete Speakers” they call ’em. Virtual meetings and such. Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. Why would you wanna talk to someone on a computer screen when you could just go outside and talk to your neighbor? But hey, that’s just me, an old lady who don’t understand all this newfangled technology.
So, this Angel Reese Sky Town jersey. It’s a thing, apparently. A big thing. Kids love it, stores sell it, and people make money off it. Me? I still think it’s just a shirt. But if it makes my grandkid happy, then I guess it’s worth it. Just don’t tell my husband how much I spent. He’d have a cow! He always says I spend too much money, but what does he know? He just sits around watchin’ them horse races on TV.
Anyway, that’s all I gotta say about this jersey. It’s a shirt, it’s expensive, and kids like it. Nothin’ more to it, far as I can see. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. Got some collard greens and cornbread waitin’ for me. That’s real food, not like this jersey business.
And you know what? Maybe I’ll get myself one of them jerseys. Not to wear, mind you, but to hang on the wall. Show them city folks that even us country folk know what’s what. Yeah, that’s what I’ll do. An Angel Reese jersey, hangin’ right next to my prize-winning quilt. That’ll show ’em.
