Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Saginaw United football, ya know, the one them young’uns play.

Saginaw United Football: The Lowdown

So, there’s this football team, Saginaw United. They play high school ball, I reckon. Heard tell they got a bunch of boys runnin’ ’round, throwin’ that there pigskin and whatnot. Don’t rightly know all the rules, but I see ’em on the TV sometimes, big boys they are, smackin’ into each other.

Them boys from Saginaw, they got a schedule, ya see. Like, a list of games they gotta play. Seems like a lot of work if ya ask me, but they seem to like it. They play all sorts of other schools, like that Carman-Ainsworth one, beat ’em good this year, 36 to 24, I heard. Them Cardinals, from Saginaw Valley State, they got a team too, but that’s a different kettle of fish, I guess. This here’s about the high school boys.

Now, I ain’t no expert on this here computer stuff, but my grandson told me they got this thing called “MaxPreps” where you can find the schedule for Saginaw United. Said it’s for the 24-25 season, whatever that means. Shows all the games they gonna play. He said something ’bout “varsity,” reckon that’s the main team, the best of the bunch.

  • They got a coach, name of James King, or so I hear. Sounds like a nice fella. First game they ever played wasn’t no big win, but the coach, he saw some good things anyway.
  • Folks seem to like watchin’ ’em play. Heard they got a bunch of fans, always cheerin’ and whatnot. They got one of them “Facebook” pages, my grandson showed it to me. Says somethin’ ’bout 445 likes. That’s a lot, right? Guess folks like watchin’ them boys.
  • They also got somethin’ called “standings.” Seems like it shows how good they are compared to other teams. My grandson tries to explain it, somethin’ ‘bout winnin’ and losin’, but it all sounds like gibberish to me.

This here “Michigan High School Athletic Association,” they’re in charge of all this stuff, I think. Sounds fancy, huh? They make sure everything’s fair and square, I guess. Keep them boys outta trouble.

Anyways, them Saginaw United boys, they seem like a good bunch. Runnin’ around, gettin’ exercise, stayin’ outta trouble. That’s what matters, right? My grandson keeps talkin’ ‘bout “computer rankings” and “statewide stat leaders,” but honestly, I just care if they play hard and don’t get hurt. He says there’s “key games” that are important, I just nod along, pretending I understand. Bless his heart.

More ‘Bout Them Football Games

Now, about them games… They got all sorts of ’em. Home games, away games, all that jazz. My grandson says it’s important to know who they’re playin’ and when. He checks the schedule all the time. Says somethin’ ’bout “tags” too, “football team” this and “schedule” that. Young folks and their lingo, I tell ya.

Heard they played that Freeland team too. Don’t rightly know if they won or lost that one, but my grandson was yellin’ at the TV somethin’ fierce. Guess it was a close game. He gets all worked up ’bout it, bless his heart. He knows all the players’ names and everything. Me? I just see a bunch of boys in helmets runnin’ around.

So, there ya have it. Saginaw United football. A bunch of boys playin’ a game, folks cheerin’, and a whole lotta fuss. Sounds like good, clean fun to me, even if I don’t understand half of it. At least they ain’t out causin’ trouble, right? They’re learnin’ ’bout teamwork and all that good stuff. And that’s what really matters, ain’t it?

Just hope they stay safe and don’t get hurt too bad. Them boys are tough, though, I’ll give ’em that. Runnin’ and hittin’ each other like that… My old bones would never hold up. But they seem to enjoy it, so good for ’em, I say. Good for ’em.

And that’s all I gotta say ’bout Saginaw United football. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. Them young’uns get hungry after all that runnin’ around.
