Well, let me tell ya about this Rocklahoma thing, sounds like a big to-do! Heard they call it America’s biggest Labor Day weekend party, and that’s somethin’, ain’t it? They’re gonna be rockin’ and rollin’ from Friday, August 30th all the way to Sunday, September 1st. Three whole days of noise!

Now, I ain’t never been to one of these here rock festivals, but from what I hear, it’s a real humdinger. They got all sorts of bands playin’. Big names, I reckon, like this Evanescence and Avenged Sevenfold. Never heard of ‘em myself, but the young’uns seem to like ‘em. Then there’s Halestrom, Disturbed, Skillet, Pop Evil, and Slipknot… sounds like a bunch of pots and pans bangin’ together if you ask me! But hey, to each their own, I always say.

They say this thing happens in Pryor, Oklahoma. Never been to Oklahoma neither, but I hear it’s flat as a pancake out there. Anyways, they set up these big stages, three of ‘em they say, for all them bands to play on. And get this, they got over 6,000 seats, numbered and all, like a fancy movie theater! Plus, they got this big ol’ lawn where another 50,000 folks can squeeze in. That’s a whole lotta people, I tell ya! They even crowned a Miss Rocklahoma this year, some gal from Arkansas. Good for her, I guess.

  • They say 75,000 folks showed up this year! That’s more people than I’ve seen in my whole life, I reckon.
  • And it ain’t just folks from around here neither. They say people come from all over America, and even from other countries! Can you believe that? Comin’ all that way just to listen to some loud music!
  • And it ain’t just the music neither. They got campgrounds and all sorts of stuff going on. Sounds like a real circus to me.

This Rocklahoma thing, it’s a three-day deal, Friday to Sunday. Labor Day weekend, they call it. Guess folks wanna have one last hurrah before they gotta go back to work or school or whatever it is they do. I remember when Labor Day meant restin’ up, not bangin’ your head to a bunch of noise! But times change, I guess.

I heard they play all kinds of music, hard rock and metal they call it. Loud stuff, I bet. Makes my head hurt just thinkin’ about it. But like I said, the young’uns seem to like it. They got their own ways, and that’s just fine. Me, I prefer a good old hymn, but to each their own, right?

So, if you’re into that kind of thing, I guess Rocklahoma is the place to be come Labor Day weekend. Just be prepared for a whole lotta noise and a whole lotta people. And don’t forget your earplugs! You wouldn’t want to go deaf, now would ya? Heck, I reckon you could hear that music all the way from here if the wind was blowin’ just right!

Rocklahoma 2024, that’s what they call it. Sounds like a big deal, alright. Maybe I’ll just stick to my porch swing and listen to the crickets. That’s music enough for me.

But hey, if you’re young and full of energy, go on and have yourself a good time. Just be safe and don’t get into too much trouble. And remember to call your grandma every now and then, ya hear?

They have these camp grounds too, not just the stages. Unofficial ones, so I heard. Probably a bunch of tents and such. Sounds like a lot of work just to listen to music. But folks like what they like. They’ve been doing it every year they say, this Rocklahoma thing. Guess it’ll be back next year too, if people keep showin’ up. They say August 30 to September 1st, 2024, that’s when it’s happening this year. Mark your calendars, I guess, if you’re into that sort of thing.
