Alright, let’s talk about this Florine Caplan, or Florine Sikking, whatever you wanna call her. Folks keep jabberin’ about her, so I figured I’d put my two cents in, ya know? Don’t expect no fancy words from me, I just tell it like it is.
Now, this Florine, she ain’t no movie star or nothin’, but she’s hitched to a fella who was on the TV – that James Sikking fella. He was on that Hill Street Blues show, played a cop, a tough one I reckon. Poor fella, he just passed away, they say it was that dementia thing. Real shame, he seemed like a good man.
Anyways, Florine and James, they got hitched way back in 1962. That’s a long time, ain’t it? Imagine stickin’ with someone that long! They had themselves a bunch of kids, three they say, and grandkids too, four of ’em. Must be a lively bunch.
- Married in 1962
- Three children
- Four grandchildren
Florine, she ain’t just a wife and a grandma, though. She’s got her own thing going on, writin’ them cookbooks. I ain’t much of a cook myself, more of a meat and potatoes gal, but I hear tell her cookbooks are pretty good. Fancy stuff, probably, not like my cookin’. She even went by Florine Sikking sometimes, usin’ her husband’s name, I guess that’s what you do when you’re married.
James, before he was on TV and married to Florine, he went to school, UCLA they call it. Learned about theater and all that artsy stuff. Graduated in ’59, then a few years later, bam, he’s married to Florine. Life’s funny that way, ain’t it?
Now, James, he was on another show too, after that Hill Street Blues thing. Something about a doctor, Dougie somethin’-or-other. He was in a lot of episodes, almost a hundred they say! That’s a lot of work, I tell ya. And he even showed up on that The Closer show with that Kyra Sedgwick lady. Busy fella, he was.
James Sikking, that was her husband’s name, remember it. He was a good man, they say, and a giver too. A whatchamacallit…phil-an-thro-pist. Means he gave money and stuff to help folks. That’s nice, ain’t it? Shows he had a good heart.
Florine, she stuck by him through thick and thin, all them years. That’s what marriage is supposed to be about, I reckon. Supportin’ each other, raisin’ a family, and maybe writin’ some cookbooks along the way. She must be a strong woman, to deal with all that Hollywood stuff and keepin’ a family together.
So, there you have it, the lowdown on Florine Caplan, or Florine Sikking, whatever you wanna call her. She’s a wife, a mother, a grandma, a cookbook writer, and she was married to a fella who was on TV. She seems alright to me, a regular person, just like you and me, well, maybe a little fancier with them cookbooks and all.
And let me tell you, life ain’t always easy. You get married, you have kids, maybe you write some books, maybe your husband’s on the TV. But through it all, you stick together, you do what you gotta do. That’s what Florine did, and that’s what matters, right? Family and sticking by each other, that’s the important stuff.
Now, I gotta go make myself some supper. All this talk about cookin’ and cookbooks has made me hungry! Remember what I said, Florine Caplan, a good woman, married to a good man, and that’s all there is to it. Don’t need no fancy words to understand that.
