Fatal Accident on I-35 Yesterday: What We Know

Well, yesterday, somethin’ real bad happened on that I-35. Folks are sayin’ there was a big accident, a real nasty one. Heard it on the radio, then my neighbor, that nosy Mrs. Johnson, come over and told me all about it. Said it was just awful.

One Dead in Fatal Accident on I-35 Yesterday: Updates Here

Seems like there was this crash, a big one, with cars all smashed up. Don’t know exactly what happened, but it was bad enough to shut down the whole darn road. Northbound lanes, they said, after that US 183 near Rutherford Lane. Closed tight. Can you imagine? All them folks stuck, just sittin’ there in their cars. Probably missin’ supper and everything.

  • One person dead on I-35 near US 183. That’s what they’re sayin’ on the news. Poor soul.
  • Another crash in Cooke County. Three cars this time, and a fuel spill too. Lord have mercy. Another one gone.
  • And then, in Austin, someone got hit by a car. Just walkin’ along, mindin’ their business, and BAM! Gone just like that. This world is gettin’ too dangerous, I tell ya.

They’re talkin’ about vehicular manslaughter, whatever that means. Sounds fancy, but it just means someone done somethin’ real stupid and killed somebody with their car. It ain’t right. People drivin’ too fast, not payin’ attention. Always in a hurry. Where they gotta go so fast, I don’t know. Just end up hurtin’ themselves or somebody else.

And the things that happen to folks in them crashes… it’s just terrible. Heard tell of heads gettin’ banged up somethin’ awful, folks bleedin’ on the inside, bones breakin’. Spines gettin’ messed up too. Heard tell of a young fella paralyzed from the waist down after a crash. Just a young thing, life all messed up now. It’s enough to make your blood run cold. Just thinkin’ about it makes my stomach churn.

They say over 120 people die every day in car crashes in this country. Every day! That’s a whole lotta folks gone too soon. And for what? Just because someone was in a hurry, or lookin’ at their phone, or maybe had a little too much to drink. It ain’t right, I tell ya. It just ain’t right.

What can we do? Well, I don’t know. I’m just an old woman. But it seems to me folks need to slow down. Pay attention to the road. Don’t drink and drive. And for goodness sake, put them phones away! Ain’t nothin’ on that phone so important it’s worth killin’ somebody over. It really ain’t. We gotta be more careful, look out for each other. This world’s got enough troubles without us addin’ to it with our careless drivin’.

I just hope them families that lost someone yesterday are doin’ okay. It’s a terrible thing to lose someone like that. My heart goes out to ’em, it surely does. And I hope everyone out there starts takin’ drivin’ a little more serious. It ain’t a game, you know. It’s a responsibility. And we all gotta do our part to keep ourselves and everyone else safe on the road. This here I-35 accident… it’s just a reminder. A sad, sad reminder.
