North Austin Shooting: What We Know So Far
Well, howdy there. Let me tell you, something bad happened up in North Austin. Heard tell there was a shooting. Awful business, that shooting stuff. Just awful. Folks gettin’ hurt, or worse, killed. Don’t make no sense, no sense at all.
This here shooting, it happened near some kinda sports bar, they say. You know, one of them places with all the TVs and loud music. Not my kinda place, mind you. I like it quiet. But these young folks, they like that noise. Anyways, this shooting, it was real bad. Somebody died.
- One fella, name of Steven Rippley, they say he was 39. Poor soul. Gone too soon.
- Cops got a young fella, just 20 years old, name of Clayton Taitague. Arrested him, they did. Said he had somethin’ to do with it. Young folks these days… always gettin’ into trouble.
They say it happened around 1:43 in the mornin’. That’s late, even for them young folks. What’s a fella doin’ out that late, ‘cept gettin’ into trouble? Makes you wonder. Just makes you wonder.
The police, they’re still figurin’ things out. Don’t know exactly what happened yet. But they said they’d tell us more when they know. We’ll just have to wait and see, I guess. Wait and see.

Heard on the radio they identified the man who got killed. Steven Rippley, like I said. 39 years old. Probably had a family, kids maybe. Just terrible, terrible. My heart goes out to his kin. It surely does.
And that young fella they arrested, Clayton Taitague. Just 20. Barely a man. What’s he doin’ with guns and such? Makes a body sick to think about it. Where do these young folks go wrong? I tell you, it wasn’t like this in my day. No sir, it wasn’t.

I hope they figure out what happened. And I hope they punish whoever did it. Can’t just go around shootin’ folks. There’s gotta be consequences. Otherwise, what’s the world comin’ to? Just chaos, that’s what.
This shooting, it just makes you think. Makes you think about how dangerous the world is these days. Makes you wanna stay home, lock your doors. But you can’t do that, can you? Gotta live your life. Gotta keep goin’. But you gotta be careful too. Gotta be real careful.
