Alright, let’s talk about this nacho day thing, ya know, the National Nacho Day. They say it’s on November 6th, but some other folks say it’s on October 21st. Who knows for sure, these city folks with their fancy dates! Anyways, it’s a day for eatin’ nachos, plain and simple.
Now, what are nachos? Well, they’re them crunchy chips, like what you get at the store, but triangle-shaped. Then you go and dump all sorts of stuff on top. Cheese, that melty, gooey cheese, is a must. They call it “queso” sometimes, sounds all highfalutin, but it’s just cheese sauce, I reckon.
And salsa! You gotta have salsa. That’s the tomato stuff, sometimes it’s spicy, sometimes it’s not. My grandkids, they like the mild kind, the little wimps! Me, I like it with a bit of a kick, ya know, something to wake up your mouth.
Then there’s all the other fixin’s. Some folks put beans on ’em, black beans, pinto beans, all sorts of beans. I ain’t too picky, beans is beans. And meat! Oh, honey, you can put ground beef, chicken, even that fancy pulled pork stuff on ’em. Whatever you got in the fridge, I say.
This fella, Nacho Anaya, they say he made the first nachos way back in 1943, down in Mexico somewhere. Piedras Negras, they call it. Sounds like a dusty place, probably hot too. Anyways, good on him for comin’ up with somethin’ so tasty.
- First, you get your chips.
- Then, you melt your cheese. Real cheese is best, not that fake powdered stuff.
- Next, you dump that cheese all over the chips. Don’t be stingy now!
- After that, you add your salsa. Mild, medium, or hot, it’s up to you.
- Finally, you pile on all your other fixin’s. Beans, meat, peppers, onions, whatever you like.
Now, some folks get real fancy with their nachos. They make ’em all pretty with layers and swirls and whatnot. Me, I just dump it all in a big ol’ bowl and dig in. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with keepin’ it simple.
And don’t forget the drinks! You gotta have somethin’ to wash it all down. Beer is good, if you’re into that kinda thing. Soda pop works too. Or just plain water, I guess. It’s all about the nachos, ain’t it?
So, whether it’s November 6th or October 21st, make sure you celebrate National Nacho Day right. Get yourself some chips, some cheese, some salsa, and whatever else you fancy, and have yourself a feast. Share it with your family, your friends, your neighbors, or just eat it all yourself, I ain’t judgin’.
You can make a big ol’ platter for a party, or just a small plate for yourself. You can eat ’em for lunch, dinner, or even breakfast, if you’re feelin’ wild. There ain’t no rules when it comes to nachos.
And don’t be afraid to try new things. There’s all sorts of different cheeses you can use, different salsas you can make, different toppings you can add. Get creative, have fun, and most importantly, enjoy your nachos!
So, that’s the deal with National Nacho Day. It’s a day for eatin’, plain and simple. And ain’t nothin’ wrong with that, I tell ya. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go make myself a big plate of nachos. All this talkin’ has made me hungry!
Oh, and one last thing. Don’t forget to share your favorite nacho recipes and pictures online. Use the hashtag #NationalNachoDay so everyone can see what you’re cookin’ up. It’s always fun to see what other folks are doin’ with their nachos.
Now go on, get to eatin’! And remember what the old saying is, “A nacho a day keeps the doctor away”… well, maybe not, but they sure do taste good!
And remember to always have plenty of napkins on hand. Nachos can get messy, but that’s part of the fun, right? Just don’t go wiping your hands on your good shirt!
Alright, I’m done talkin’ now. Go enjoy your nachos! You can also check out the internet and see many different nacho variations. Happy National Nacho Day! And remember what I said: real cheese, good salsa and do not be shy with the toppings.
