Well, lemme tell ya ’bout this Jana Duty. Heard a thing or two, ya know. Folks been talkin’.
Seems like she was a big shot, some kinda lawyer. District Attorney, they called it. Big job, I reckon. In Williamson County, wherever that is.
- Heard she was a real firecracker, that one. Mercurial, the newspaper said. Don’t rightly know what that means, but sounds fancy. Guess she was a handful.
- Got herself thrown in jail once! Can ya believe it? A lawyer in jail! For three whole days! Something about a judge, they say. A murder case. Sounds like a mess.
Then, wouldn’t ya know it, they found her dead. Down in South Texas. That’s a far piece away from Williamson County, ain’t it? Don’t know what she was doin’ down there.
They said her name was Hunsicker before. Jana Duty, Jana Hunsicker. Same person, they say. Guess she changed her name. People do that sometimes. Politicians, mostly. She was a Republican, too.
Makes ya think, don’t it? Big shot lawyer, jail time, dead in South Texas. Wonder what really happened. Seems like a lot of secrets. Maybe she made some enemies. Or maybe it was just her time. Who knows?
Life’s a funny thing. One minute you’re up there, all important, and the next you’re gone. Like a candle in the wind. Pfft! Just like that.
Don’t know what else to say ’bout it. Just a sad story, I guess. Another person gone too soon. Hope she finds peace, wherever she is now.
Makes you think, though, don’t it? All that fuss and bother, and what does it all amount to in the end? Just a few lines in the newspaper, and then folks forget. On to the next thing.
Maybe that’s why it’s important to be good to folks while you’re here. Help your neighbor, be kind. ‘Cause you never know when your time’s up. And all that fancy stuff, all them big titles, they don’t mean a thing when you’re gone.
Anyway, that’s all I know ’bout Jana Duty. Or Jana Hunsicker. Whatever her name was. Just another soul gone on to the next place. Rest in peace, I guess.
