Well, let me tell ya, somethin’ big happened on that there I-35 this mornin’. Woke up, and the whole town’s buzzin’ like a beehive. Accident on I-35 this morning, they said. Lord have mercy!
Heard it from my neighbor, Agnes. She gets up before the roosters, you know. Said she saw it on the news, all them flashing lights and sirens. Sounded like a real mess. Said somethin’ about cars all smashed up, I-35 closed, and folks stuck in traffic for hours. Can you imagine? Stuck there, all mornin’, hungry and whatnot. I tell ya, it makes my old bones ache just thinkin’ about it.
- They said it happened early, ’round 6:10 a.m. or somethin’ like that.
- Folks were headed to work, I reckon. Never a good time for an accident, but that’s just plain bad luck.
- Heard one fella even lost his life, bless his soul. Two others hurt real bad. Prayers for them and their families, I say.
Now, I don’t know all the details, mind you. These city folk with their fancy talk and technical mumbo jumbo. But from what I gather, it was a bad one. Major accident, they called it. Probably some young whippersnapper goin’ too fast, or somebody not payin’ attention. Happens all the time, these days. Folks got no patience anymore. Always in a hurry, rushin’ around like chickens with their heads cut off.
Agnes said they were talkin’ about lane closures and road closures all over the place. I-35 northbound, near downtown Dallas, she said. And somethin’ about West Des Moines too, maybe another accident? Hard to keep it all straight. So much happenin’ all at once. Makes an old lady like me dizzy just tryin’ to figure it all out.
They even got them live traffic camera feeds now, you know. Agnes said she saw it, cars piled up like tin cans. Terrible sight, I bet. Makes you think, it does. One minute you’re drivin’ along, mindin’ your own business, and the next… bam! Life can change just like that.
And then there’s the waitin’. They said on the news the delays on I-35 could last up to eight hours! Eight hours! Can you believe that? Poor folks, just sittin’ there in their cars, not goin’ nowhere. Hope they had some snacks and water, at least. And the bathroom situation? Don’t even get me started on that. Must have been a nightmare.
They’re always talkin’ about traffic updates and road conditions on the radio and TV. Seems like there’s always an accident somewhere. I-35 Texas, they say. I-70, I-635, U.S. 69. All them numbers, I can’t keep track. But it just goes to show, you gotta be careful out there. Watch out for the other fella, and don’t be in such a hurry.
Agnes said somethin’ about Texas constructions too. Maybe that had somethin’ to do with it? All them orange cones and detour signs, it’s enough to confuse anybody. And with all that construction goin’ on, the current driving time is probably all messed up anyway. You never know how long it’s gonna take to get somewhere these days.
Well, I hope them folks stuck in traffic get home safe and sound. And my heart goes out to the families of the ones who got hurt. It’s a sad day, it surely is. Makes you appreciate what you got, that’s for sure. And reminds you to say your prayers, every mornin’ when you wake up and every night before you go to bed. You never know what the day might bring. So you just gotta be thankful for what you got and take it one day at a time. That’s what I always say.
Accidents like this accident on I-35 this morning just prove that no matter how careful you are, things can happen. It’s a reminder to always be alert and to be patient with others on the road.
And that’s all I know about this mess on I-35. Like I said, I’m just an old lady, but I know a thing or two about life. And I know that accidents happen, and sometimes, there’s just nothin’ you can do about it. So you just gotta pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep on goin’. That’s all there is to it.
