Well, bless your heart, let me tell you ’bout this young fella, Caleb Harris. Poor boy, just 21 years young, gone missin’ from that there Texas A&M down in Corpus Christi. A&M Corpus Christi missing student, that’s what they’re callin’ it.
He was studyin’ at the college, you know, tryin’ to make somethin’ of himself. Last seen, they say, outside his apartment early mornin’ on March the 4th. Just vanished, like a puff of smoke. Left his car, his wallet, his keys… everything. Makes a body wonder, don’t it?
- Gone missin’: March 4th, early mornin’.
- Age: 21 years old.
- Student at: Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
- Left behind: Car, wallet, keys.
Folks been lookin’ for him, high and low, for months. Searched everywhere, they did. His daddy, Randy Harris, must be just sick with worry. Imagine, your boy just disappearin’ like that. It’d break your heart, it would.
Now, they found somethin’, somethin’ awful. Human remains, they say, in one of them wastewater wells. Deep down, 40 foot deep, can you believe it? Took a while to figure out who it was, but the police finally said it… it was Caleb. Lord have mercy.
They talk about a doorbell camera, caught him on the night he went missin’. But what happened after that, nobody rightly knows. Just gone. Poof. And now, this… this terrible endin’.
Makes you think, it does. About how quick life can change. One minute you’re here, studyin’ and plannin’ your future, and the next… Well, the next you ain’t. It’s a sad, sad story. A young life cut short. Caleb Harris found, but not the way nobody wanted.
This here wastewater station, that’s where they found him. Took ’em four months, four long months of searchin’. Can’t imagine what his family’s been goin’ through. The waitin’, the hopin’, and then… this. It just ain’t right.
Heard tell he was a good boy, from New Braunfels. Come down to Corpus Christi to get his learnin’. Had his whole life ahead of him. It’s a tragedy, that’s what it is. A plumb tragedy. Makes you wanna hug your own young’uns tighter, you know?
This fella, writin’ for the people magazine, he’s been followin’ the story. Been writin’ about it for a long time now. Guess he’s seen a lot of sad things in his time. But this one, this one hits close to home. A young man, just startin’ out, and then… gone. Missing college student, that’s what they’ll remember him by, and that’s a crying shame.
They say he was last seen outside his apartment complex. Just a regular mornin’, turned into a nightmare. And now, four months later, the search is over. But the pain, the hurt… that’ll stay with his family for a long, long time. Lord, give ’em strength.
It’s a hard thing, losin’ a child. Don’t matter how old they are, they’re still your baby. And to lose ’em like this… well, it just ain’t fair. But life ain’t fair, is it? It just ain’t. Prayers for that Harris family, they surely need ’em.
So that’s the story, as best as I can tell it. A young fella, gone too soon. A family heartbroken. And a whole lotta unanswered questions. It’s a sad, sad world sometimes. Just gotta hold on to hope, and keep on keepin’ on. And always, always, tell your young’uns you love ‘em. You never know what tomorrow might bring.
