Alright, listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about this… uh… Frisco Heritage football, yeah, that’s it. Them young’uns runnin’ around with a ball, smackin’ into each other. Sounds crazy, but folks love it.
So, this Frisco Heritage, they got a football team, see? They call ’em the Coyotes. Like them wild dogs out in the fields, I guess. Fast and scrappy, I reckon. They got a whole schedule of games, just like them city folk got their fancy calendars. Means they play a bunch of other schools, tryin’ to win and whatnot.
- First thing you gotta know, they play a lotta games. Like, every week, they’re out there, huffin’ and puffin’.
- They play other schools, I hear. Some from nearby, some maybe a little further out. All tryin’ to be the best, I s’pose.
- And they keep score, see? That’s how you know who’s winnin’. More points, you win. Simple as that.
Now, I don’t know much about this here “varsity” team. Sounds fancy. But I hear they’re the older boys, the bigger ones. They play on Friday nights, under them bright lights. Must be excitin’ for the young’uns to watch.
They got this thing called a schedule. It’s like a list, tells ya when and where they’re playin’. And who they’re playin’ against. You can find it online, they say. Online? That’s like magic, I tell ya. But the young’uns, they know all about it.
This Frisco Heritage, they got a whole school, not just football. High school, they call it. Kids go there to learn all sorts of things. But seems like football is a big deal. Folks get all riled up about it. Cheerin’ and hollerin’, just like at a county fair, but with more runnin’ around.
They got scores too. That’s how you tell who won the game, see? Like, if Frisco Heritage gets more points, they win. If the other team gets more, well, then they lose. It ain’t rocket science, even this old lady can figure that out.
And they got this thing called “rankings”. I guess that’s like who’s the best and who’s not so good. Like judgin’ chickens at the fair, but with boys and a football. They put ‘em in order, see? Top team, then the next best, and so on. Folks get real worked up about these rankings, argue all day long about it.
The Coyotes, they play in a district, whatever that means. Sounds like a bunch of teams all playin’ each other. And they keep track of who wins and loses in the district too. Like a smaller competition inside the bigger one. Confusin’, ain’t it? But them football folks, they eat it up.
Now, where do they play? Well, they got a place, a field, I guess. They call it Eldorado Parkway. Sounds fancy, like a road or somethin’. But that’s where they play their home games, I hear. Other teams gotta come there and play against the Coyotes.
They even got somethin’ called “5A-1 District 5”. Sounds like a secret code, doesn’t it? But it just tells ya what group they’re in. Like, what other teams they play against and such. It matters to them football folks, I guess.
So, if you wanna know when the Frisco Heritage Coyotes are playin’, you gotta look at their schedule. Wanna know how they’re doin’? Look at the scores and rankings. And if you wanna see ‘em play, you gotta go to that Eldorado Parkway place, or wherever they’re playin’ that week. It’s all there, if you know where to look. Me? I’ll stick to watchin’ the chickens. At least I understand them. But these young’uns and their football… well, it keeps ’em busy, I reckon.
This whole football thing, it’s more than just a game, I think. It gets the whole town talkin’, gets folks together. Even if an old lady like me don’t quite get all the rules, I see the smiles on the young’uns faces when they win. And that’s good enough for me. It’s about community, about cheerin’ on your own, about bein’ part of somethin’ bigger than yourself. And that, I understand.
