Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about them tires and this cold weather. It’s a real pain in the behind, ya know? Can cold weather deflate tires? You bet your bottom dollar it can!

- And Lord have mercy, don’t even get me started on blowouts! A flat tire on a warm day is bad enough, but a blowout in the middle of a snowstorm? That’s a recipe for disaster, I tell ya. You’ll be stranded out there colder than a well digger’s behind in January.
Now, some folks say you gotta pump up them tires a little extra in the winter. Put in a bit more air than you usually do, they say. Makes ’em firmer, I reckon. I ain’t sure how much more, but a little extra can’t hurt, can it? Just don’t go overboard and pop ’em like a balloon at a birthday party! That happened to my neighbor Billy Joe once. Loudest bang you ever heard! Scared the chickens so bad they didn’t lay eggs for a week.
And here’s another thing, this here cold weather ain’t just bad for your tires, it makes everything harder. My old bones ache somethin’ fierce when the temperature drops. Gotta bundle up like an Eskimo just to go out to the mailbox. And the car? Well, she takes a bit of coaxin’ to get started on a cold mornin’. Gotta let her warm up for a good long while, just like I gotta warm up with a cup of hot coffee before I can even think straight.
So, what’s the bottom line? Keep an eye on them tires when the weather turns cold. Check ’em regular, maybe once a week or so. And if they look a little low, pump ’em up! It’s better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to drivin’ on these icy roads. A little air in the tires can save you a whole heap of trouble, trust me on that. And don’t forget a warm coat and a thermos of coffee for yourself, too. This cold weather ain’t no joke!
I remember one time, years ago, before my husband passed, we were drivin’ back from visitin’ my sister and wouldn’t ya know it, the tire went flat! Right there on the side of the road, middle of nowhere, and the wind howlin’ like a banshee. Coldest I’ve ever been in my life. Took us hours to get that tire changed, and by the time we got home, we were both frozen stiff. Learned my lesson that day, I did. Check them tires, I say, check them tires!
