Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Dana Hills soccer thing, alright? It’s a whole lotta fuss about kickin’ a ball, but folks seem to like it, so here we go.
First off, you got these Dana Hills Dolphins. Sounds fancy, huh? They got a bunch of teams, seems like. Boys, girls, varsity, even the little freshman fellas got their own camp. Monday this, Monday that, always somethin’ goin’ on. They play at somethin’ called Dolphin Stadium. Big place, I reckon, gotta hold all them kids and their folks.
Now, they got this schedule, a real long one. Games all over the place, I tell ya. Preseason, regular season, league games… what’s a league game anyway? Sounds important. They play against other schools, like Mission Viejo. That’s another name I hear a lot. Probably some other fancy school with them kids runnin’ around.
And the website, oh boy, don’t even get me started. They say it’s powered by some “SportsEngine’s Sports Relationship Management software”. Sounds like a mouthful of nothin’ to me. But I guess it’s how they keep track of all them games and players and whatnot.
- They got rankings, too. Who’s the best, who’s the worst, I guess. Just like them chickens in the coop, always peckin’ at each other to see who’s on top.
- And rosters. That’s just a fancy word for a list of names, I figured that out. All them kids playin’ on the teams.
- They even got a banquet. A big dinner, probably. Them kids gotta eat after all that runnin’ around.
This soccer thing, it ain’t just kickin’ a ball, you see. It’s about dedication, they say. And determination. Them kids work hard, gotta give ’em that. Runnin’ up and down that field, sweatin’ like a pig in July. Football, basketball, swimmin’, track and field… these Dana Hills kids do it all. Keeps ’em outta trouble, I suppose. Better than sittin’ around doin’ nothin’, that’s for sure.
You can find all this stuff online, they tell me. Schedules, news, rankings… It’s all there, if you know where to look. But me? I’d rather just sit on the porch and watch the birds. Less runnin’ around, that’s for sure.
But hey, if them kids wanna kick a ball, let ’em kick it. It’s their time, their fun. And who knows, maybe one of ’em will make somethin’ of themselves. Get a scholarship, go to college, get a good job… All from kickin’ a ball. Life’s funny that way, ain’t it?
So that’s the Dana Hills soccer in a nutshell. A whole lotta runnin’, a whole lotta games, and a whole lotta fuss. But it seems to keep them kids busy, and that’s a good thing, I reckon. Keeps ’em outta my hair, at least. And that’s good enough for me.
