Okay, so the other day, I needed to figure out if the University of Texas (UT) was closed due to bad weather. I mean, who wants to trek all the way to campus only to find locked doors and empty classrooms? Not me! So, here’s how I went about it.
My Little Weather Closure Investigation
First things first, I grabbed my phone. I figured the quickest way to check would be online. Initially, I was thinking to looking up UT’s website, social media, local news sites, anything could be helpful.
I started with the most obvious move:
- Open the browser and typed the main site address.
I figured the university would have some kind of alert banner or pop-up if there were any closures. You know, something big and obvious right on the homepage. I scrolled around a bit, checking the main sections, but no luck. Everything looked normal, which was a bit surprising given the weather outside.
Next, I thought, “Okay, maybe it’s on their social media.” I mean, that’s where everyone posts updates these days, right? So I:
- Checked Facebook page. Usually, important announcements pop up there first.
I went, looked at their recent posts, and comments. Sometimes, people ask about closures in the comments, and the university or other students reply. But, I saw nothing weather-related, unfortunately.
Then I went to check weather service.
- Looked for any special weather alerts or warnings.
After all this searching, I had to check and consider, maybe there wasn’t a closure after all? The weather might have been bad in my area, but not necessarily on campus.
So, that was my little adventure in checking for a UT weather closure. It turned out to be a bit more involved than I initially thought, but hey, at least I know the drill now for next time!
