Alright, let’s gab a bit about this Georgetown, Texas place, ya hear? Folks keep jabberin’ ‘bout it, so I figured I’d poke around and see what the fuss is all about.
First off, they say it’s in somethin’ called Williamson County. Sounds fancy, but I reckon it’s just land, same as anywhere else. They’re callin’ it one of the best places to live in Texas. Now, I ain’t been everywhere, but I’ve seen a thing or two, and “best” is a mighty big word. But, they say it’s kinda suburban-like, ya know, not too crowded but not out in the sticks neither. Most folks own their own homes, which is good, I guess. Rentin’ just feels like throwin’ money down a well.
And parks! They got a whole heap of ‘em. Good for the young’uns to run around and for the old folks to sit and watch the birds, I suppose. Speakin’ of young’uns, they say a lot of ‘em are movin’ in, the ones with the fancy jobs and the city ways. But there’s plenty of old-timers too, the retired kind. And they lean conservative, so they say. Not sure what that means exactly, but I reckon they like things the way they used to be.
Now, the land itself, that’s somethin’ I understand. On one side, it’s flat and black, good for farmin’ I bet. On the other side, it’s got hills and rocks. They call it the Hill Country, and it’s got all sorts of pretty plants: cactuses, cedars, oaks, and these bluebonnets and red poppies. They even call Georgetown the “Red Poppy Capital.” Sounds purdy, I gotta say. Probably makes for a nice picture postcard.
Why’s Everyone Movin’ to Georgetown?
Seems like everyone and their brother is movin’ to Georgetown these days. They say it’s growin’ faster than a weed in a rainstorm. And it ain’t hard to see why. It’s close to Austin, which I hear is a big city with lots of jobs. And they got these big highways, so you can get around easy. Plus, there’s still plenty of land to build on, so they keep puttin’ up new houses and stores. And they got smart folks around, the kind that know how to fix things and make things work.
- Close to Austin
- Lots of land
- Big highways
- Good workers
Heck, they even filmed a movie there, somethin’ called “Varsity Blues.” Used the high school football field and the elementary school. Guess that’s somethin’ to brag about, if you’re into that kinda thing.
Stayin’ in the Know
If you wanna know what’s what in Georgetown, you gotta keep up with the news, I guess. They got websites and newspapers and such, all tellin’ you what’s goin’ on. Seems like the city folks are always up to somethin’, buildin’ this and fixin’ that. And they got health stuff to worry about too, with that Williamson County and Cities Health District. And they just got themselves a new person, Rebecca Clemons, workin’ for the county. Big news, apparently.
The Fastest Growin’ City?
Now, some folks are sayin’ Georgetown is the fastest-growin’ city in the whole United States. That’s a mouthful, ain’t it? I don’t know how they figure these things, but that’s what they’re sayin’. There’s this website, *, where you can see what’s happenin’ in town. Businesses and such, I reckon. Seems like a good way to keep your finger on the pulse, if you care about that sort of thing.
So, that’s the lowdown on Georgetown, as best as I can tell. Sounds like a busy place, full of new folks and new things. Whether it’s the “best” place to live, well, that’s for each person to decide. But it sure seems like somethin’ special is happenin’ down there in Williamson County. Maybe I’ll mosey on down there myself one day and see what all the fuss is about. But then again, maybe I’ll just stay put. Change ain’t always a good thing, ya know?
