Alright, listen up, y’all. We gonna talk ’bout this Bosqueville football, you hear? Don’t know much ’bout fancy writin’, but I know what I see, and I seen these young’uns play.
The Bosqueville Bulldogs, that’s who we talkin’ ’bout. They got a football team, and they play hard, real hard. I seen ’em runnin’ and hittin’ like a buncha wild animals. Good kids, though, most of ’em. Respectful, ya know? Say “yes ma’am” and “no sir,” just like their mamas taught ’em.
Now, I ain’t got no fancy computer or nothin’, but my grandson, he shows me stuff on his phone. He says you can find all sorts of things ’bout the Bulldogs online. Says there’s scores and schedules and all that. Don’t know what half of it means, but I see the pictures, and I see the numbers. Wins and losses, that’s what matters, right?
- Wins – that’s good, means they done good.
- Losses – well, that ain’t so good, but they try, they always try.
My grandson, he tells me they play other schools too. Waco, and some other places I ain’t never heard of. He says there’s rankings too. Means who’s the best, I guess. Don’t matter much to me, long as them boys play their hearts out.
I heard tell they got a schedule for next year too. 2024 and even 2025! Lordy, that’s a long ways away. Hope I’m still around to see ’em play then. My grandson says you can find the schedule online. Says somethin’ ’bout “*” and “Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.” Sounds fancy, but it just means they got the games listed, far as I can tell.
Them Bulldogs, they play all sorts of sports, not just football. Baseball, basketball, even golf, if you can believe it. My niece’s girl plays softball, real good player she is. Track and field too, runnin’ and jumpin’ and throwin’ things. Volleyball, that’s for the girls, mostly. And soccer, that’s somethin’ new, ain’t it? Didn’t have that when I was young.
But football, that’s the big one. Friday nights, under the lights. The whole town comes out to watch. Folks cheerin’ and yellin’, eatin’ hot dogs and popcorn. It’s a real community thing, ya know? Brings folks together.
I seen these kids grow up, some of ’em. Little tykes runnin’ ’round, now they’re big and strong, playin’ football. Makes you proud, it does. Seein’ ’em out there, workin’ together, tryin’ their best. That’s what it’s all about, ain’t it? Tryin’ your best, no matter what.
Bosqueville High School, that’s where they play. Good school, I reckon. Got good teachers, good coaches. They care about these kids, you can see it. They ain’t just teachin’ ’em football, they teachin’ ’em ’bout life too. ‘Bout respect and responsibility and hard work.
So, if you wanna know ’bout Bosqueville football, go look it up online, like my grandson says. You’ll find all sorts of stuff. Scores and schedules and rosters and rankings. But don’t forget the most important thing: them boys are playin’ their hearts out, and that’s somethin’ to be proud of.
And lemme tell ya, these boys, they ain’t just playin’ for themselves. They playin’ for the whole town, for all of us. They representin’ Bosqueville, and they doin’ a darn good job of it, if you ask me.
Now, I gotta go make some supper. But y’all remember what I said. Bosqueville football, it’s somethin’ special. Go Bulldogs!
