Sadly, that man didn’t make it through the day.

Just last week, there was another one at a shopping center in the city. I think a couple of folks died in that one, and it left others hurt real bad. It’s a tough time for folks around here, what with all these violent acts goin’ on.

My heart goes out to all those folks affected by these terrible events.

Well, first thing’s first—stay aware of your surroundings. If you live anywhere near those areas, make sure you keep an eye out and stay safe. It’s always good to know who’s around you and be careful ’bout goin’ out too late or into places you ain’t familiar with.
Also, if you see somethin’ suspicious, don’t be afraid to call the police. They might not always get there in time, but every little bit helps. I know it’s tough, and folks feel like they can’t trust people no more, but we gotta stick together. Austin’s a big city, but it ain’t too big for us to watch out for one another.
And I reckon we all just have to hope and pray things start to settle down. Nobody wants to live in fear, not here in Austin, not anywhere. It’s a place where folks usually look out for each other, but with all this bad news, it’s been hard to feel safe lately.
