Well, let me tell ya about the weather in Austin, Texas, back in February 2024. It was kinda like this…
Temperature, you know, how hot or cold it gets, well, it started out kinda cool-like, maybe in the 60s during the day. That’s like, ya know, you might need a light jacket, but not a real heavy one. But then, as the month went on, it got a bit warmer, maybe up to 70 degrees or so. Felt pretty nice, I tell ya. Not too hot, not too cold. Just right, like Goldilocks and her porridge, ha!
Nights were still a bit chilly though, started out in the 40s, brrr! You’d definitely need a blanket at night, maybe even two! But even those night temperatures, they crept up a bit too, maybe into the high 40s, almost 50 by the end of the month. Still needed a blanket, but maybe not so many.
Now, some folks were talkin’ about snow. Can you believe it? Snow in Texas! Well, it ain’t like up north where they get mountains of it, no sir. Here, if we get any, it’s just a little dusting, maybe enough to make a snowball or two. They said the best chance for snow was early and late in February. I didn’t see any myself, though. Maybe it was just a few flurries that melted before I saw ‘em.
- Daytime highs: Started in the 60s, got up to around 70.
- Nighttime lows: Started in the 40s, warmed up to near 50.
- Snow: Maybe a little, but don’t hold your breath.
They say January is usually the coldest month in Texas, followed by February and December. Makes sense, I guess. I always say February is a tricky month, you never quite know what you’re gonna get. Could be warm, could be cold, could even snow a little. Gotta be prepared for anything, that’s what I say.
Austin, they tell me, has this thing called a “Humid Subtropical Climate.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? All it means is that summers are long and hot, and winters are short and mild. Which is mostly true, I reckon. But even in a mild winter, you can still get a cold snap or two, so you gotta be ready.
I remember one day in February, it was partly cloudy, they said. The low was supposed to be around 44 degrees, and the wind was light. Just a typical February day, I guess. Nothing too exciting, weather-wise. But that’s okay, I don’t need a lot of excitement in my weather. Just give me a nice, sunny day, not too hot, not too cold, and I’m happy.
If you wanna know the exact temperature on a particular day, well, you can look it up online, I guess. They got all sorts of fancy websites now that tell you the weather every hour of the day. Me, I just stick my head out the door and see how it feels. That’s good enough for me.
So, overall, the weather in Austin in February 2024 was pretty mild. A bit chilly at times, maybe a chance of a little snow, but mostly just pleasant. Not too hot, not too cold. Just right, like I said before. And that’s all there is to it, as far as I’m concerned.
And remember, this is just what I remember, you know, an old woman’s memory ain’t always perfect. But I reckon it’s pretty close to how it was. If you need the exact numbers and all that, go look it up yourself. I just told you what it felt like to me.
One more thing, some people said that the winter of 2024/2025 was gonna be warmer and drier than usual down south. I don’t know about that, I’m just talking about February 2024, you hear? Can’t speak for the whole winter, or next year, or nothin’ like that. Just February 2024, that’s all I know.
