[Body]
Well, howdy there, y’all! Let’s jaw a bit about this here Alvarado, Texas football. You know, that pigskin sport where them young’uns run around like chickens with their heads cut off, chasin’ after that funny-shaped ball.
Alvarado Football: Them Boys Are Tough!
I ain’t no fancy sportswriter, mind you, just a plain ol’ body who likes to watch them boys play their hearts out. And let me tell ya, these Alvarado boys, they’re somethin’ else. They play hard, they play tough, and they don’t give up easy.
I heard tell they won a game not too long ago, somethin’ fierce. Beat them Sulphur Springs fellas in a real nail-biter. 42 to 39, I think it was. That boy Schyler Dethorne, he was runnin’ like a scalded dog, scorin’ three touchdowns. Bless his heart, he’s a fast one, that’s for sure.
And then there was that game against Panther Creek. Heard it went into double overtime! Can you believe it? Double overtime! Them boys musta been plumb tuckered out, but they pulled it off, 44 to 41. Guess they wanted it more, that’s all there is to it.
Seems like these Alvarado Indians, that’s what they call ’em, they’re on a roll. Ranked number three in somethin’ called Class 4A, whatever that means. Sounds important though. They even had some game where they were way behind, ten points down with hardly any time left, and they came back and won. Now that’s what I call grit!
- They beat Eastern Hills somethin’ awful, 76 to 12. That was a real whoopin’, I tell ya.
- And that quarterback, Cardea Collier, he’s a real pistol. Heard he scored ten touchdowns in one game! Ten touchdowns! I ain’t never seen nothin’ like it. That boy’s got a future, I reckon.
- They even played some team called the Glen Rose Tigers. Don’t know who won that one, but I bet it was a good game.
I tell you what, this Alvarado football, it’s excitin’. It gets your blood pumpin’. It makes you wanna holler and cheer and stomp your feet. It brings the whole town together, you know? Everybody comin’ out to watch them boys play, eatin’ popcorn and drinkin’ soda pop. It’s just good, clean fun.
Now, I don’t know nothin’ about the X’s and O’s and all that fancy football talk. But I know this: these Alvarado boys, they play with heart. They play with passion. And they play for each other. And that’s what matters, ain’t it?
And you know, Alvarado ain’t just about football, though that’s what we’re talkin’ ’bout today. It’s a good little town, with good people. I heard tell there was this fella named William Balch, way back when, who they call the “Father of Alvarado”. He helped get this town started, surveyed the land, set up the first stores, even gave some land for a cemetery. Sounds like a good man, that William Balch. He probably woulda been proud of these football boys, too.
So, if you ever get a chance to come on down to Alvarado, Texas, make sure you catch a football game. You won’t be disappointed. And who knows, maybe you’ll even see them boys win another championship. That would be somethin’, wouldn’t it? Just somethin’ special.
Alvarado Football: Keep on Fightin’!
That’s all I got to say about that. Just remember, go Alvarado! Keep on fightin’ boys, we’re all rootin’ for ya!
