Lynn Brennan AISD: What You Need to Know About the Superintendent

Well, let me tell ya, this whole Lynn Brennan AISD thing is a real mess, a real howdy-doozy, as they say. I ain’t no fancy lawyer or nothin’, just an old woman who’s seen a thing or two, and this smells fishier than a week-old carp.

First off, they say this Lynn Brennan, she was some big shot at AISD, somethin’ like “Executive Director of Compensation and Benefits.” Sounds important, right? Well, compensation, that’s just a fancy word for money, and benefits, well, that’s like your health stuff and your days off. Sounds like she was in charge of payin’ people and makin’ sure they got their goodies. But now they say she done went and stole a whole heap of money, like $30,000 or somethin’. Thirty thousand dollars! That’s enough to buy a whole new tractor, or maybe even a little house!

Lynn Brennan AISD: What You Need to Know About the Superintendent
  • They say she got arrested, you know, put in the jailhouse. But not for long, mind you. They let her out pretty quick, on somethin’ called a “personal recognizance bond.” I ain’t rightly sure what that is, but it sounds like they just trusted her to come back, which seems kinda silly considerin’ she’s accused of stealin’.
  • And this AISD, that’s the Austin Independent School District. That’s where all the young’uns go to learn their ABCs and 123s. My grandbaby goes there, bless her heart. So, this woman, she was stealin’ from the schools, from the kids! That just ain’t right.
  • Then there’s all this talk about superintendents. Seems like they had one, then another one, and now another one. First, there was this Stephanie somethin’-or-other, she up and left for Dallas. Then they had a fella named Anthony Mays for a bit, just warmin’ the seat, I reckon. Now they got this Matias Segura fella. He’s makin’ a whole lot of money, somethin’ like $362,000 a year! That’s more money than I’ve seen in my whole life. They gave him the job permanent-like in January 2024. Hope he sticks around and cleans up this mess.

This Segura fella, he’s got a big job, takin’ care of all them kids and all them teachers and all that money. They even got somethin’ called a “superintendent scorecard.” Sounds like a report card, just like my grandbaby gets! But this one’s important, they say. It’s how they decide if he’s doin’ a good job or not. I tell ya, with all this stealin’ goin’ on, he’s got his work cut out for him. He gotta keep an eye on everybody, make sure they ain’t stickin’ their fingers in the cookie jar, so to speak.

Now, I don’t know this Lynn Brennan from Adam. She could be a nice lady for all I know, but stealin’ is stealin’. And stealin’ from the schools, from the kids? That’s just low. Real low. They say she’s 45 years old. Old enough to know better, that’s for sure. She got booked at 5:30 in the mornin’, early bird catches the worm, they say, but in her case, it was the jail cell.

AISD needs to get its act together. They need to make sure this kinda thing don’t happen again. They need to watch their money close, like a hawk watchin’ a mouse. They owe it to the kids, to the teachers, to all the folks who pay their taxes. This ain’t just about the money, it’s about trust. And right now, that trust is busted, like a busted fence post. It needs fixin’, and fast.

I read somethin’ in the paper the other day, completely different, somethin’ about what to eat durin’ that menopause thing. Said white bread is bad. Well, I ain’t surprised. Too much fancy stuff these days. Folks should stick to the basics, just like AISD should stick to teachin’ kids and keepin’ the money safe. It ain’t rocket science.

So, that’s my two cents on this whole Lynn Brennan mess. It’s a shame, a real doggone shame. I hope they get to the bottom of it, get the money back, and make sure it don’t happen again. And that Mr. Segura, I hope he does right by them kids. They deserve better than this.

Folks need to remember, whether you’re runnin’ a school district or bakin’ a pie, honesty is the best policy. Always has been, always will be. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about stealin’ and such has given me a hankerin’ for some good, honest food.
