Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Pharr Tennis Center place in Austin, Texas. It’s a real nice spot, ya know, for playin’ tennis. Folks say it’s at 4201 Brookview Road, or maybe it’s 4235, can’t rightly remember, but it’s on Brookview Road, that’s for sure. You go on down there and you’ll see it.

They got these tennis courts, a whole bunch of ’em, eight I think they said. And they ain’t just any ol’ courts, mind you. They got lights, so you can play even when it gets dark. That’s real handy, ‘specially in the summer when it stays hot so late. And they got these covered sittin’ areas, so you can rest your bones after chasin’ that little yellow ball around.

Now, I ain’t no fancy tennis player myself, but I hear tell this place is real good. They got somethin’ called a “premier destination,” whatever that means. Sounds important, though. And they say all sorts of folks can play there, young’uns, old folks like me, and everyone in between. Doesn’t matter if you’re a whiz or just startin’ out. It’s all about havin’ fun, I reckon.

They got this fella, Yanez, he’s the manager. Keeps things runnin’ smooth, I guess. And there’s even a concrete wall for practicin’. You can whack that ball against it all day long if you want. Get yourself good and ready for a real game.

Folks in Austin, they just love their tennis, I swear. And pickleball too, whatever that is. Sounds like a silly name to me, but they seem to enjoy it. This city, it’s got good weather for playin’ outside most of the year, see. Not like them places up north where it snows all the time. Here, you can play tennis pretty much year-round, except maybe when it gets too darn hot or when it rains cats and dogs.

Some folks even talk about Austin bein’ a real hotbed for tennis, like them places in Florida and California. I don’t know about all that, but I do know there’s a lot of folks playin’. They got these leagues and clubs, and junior programs for the kids. It’s a whole big thing, I tell ya. And the University of Texas, they got tennis courts too, inside and outside. Fancy that!

Things are gettin’ so complicated these days. But I guess that’s how they do it. You gotta keep up with the times, even if you’re an old lady like me.
