Alright, so listen up, y’all. Gonna talk about this… this Austin school shooting thing. Heard about it on the TV, you know, the one with the big screen? Yeah, that one. Folks are all riled up, and let me tell ya, I ain’t surprised one bit.
Kids these days, I tell ya, they ain’t right. Back in my day, we had slingshots and maybe a BB gun. Now? It’s all… well, I don’t even know what them guns are called. Too many letters and numbers. Scary stuff, real scary.
This Austin school shooting, it ain’t the first time, and it sure as heck won’t be the last if things keep goin’ the way they are. I heard somethin’ ’bout some kids makin’ threats on that… whatchamacallit… Instagram? Yeah, that picture thing. Kids postin’ pictures and writin’ nasty things. Land sakes, why can’t they just play outside like normal kids?
- Threats on social media. That’s new. We used to just yell at each other face to face.
- Kids gettin’ arrested. That’s a shame. Young’uns need guidance, not jail.
- Schools lockin’ down. What kinda world is this when kids can’t even go to school without fear?
This Austin Independent School District, they got their hands full. I heard them school leaders on the TV, talkin’ ’bout safety and security and workin’ with the families. Well, that’s all well and good, but talk is cheap. They gotta do somethin’, and they gotta do it fast.
And the families, they ain’t off the hook neither. Gotta keep an eye on them kids, see what they’re doin’ on that internet thingy. Talk to ’em, teach ’em right from wrong. It ain’t easy, I know. Kids these days, they think they know everything. But somebody gotta set ’em straight.
This whole Angela Shen case, the one with the teen gettin’ arrested for threats… it’s a mess. A real mess. Makes you wonder what’s goin’ on in these kids’ heads. Are they angry? Are they lonely? Are they just plain mean? I don’t know, and I ain’t sure nobody else does neither.
But one thing I do know, we can’t just sit around and wait for the next Austin school shooting to happen. We gotta do somethin’. We gotta talk to each other, work together, and figure this thing out. Our kids, they’re the future. And if the future is full of guns and violence, well, I don’t wanna think about it.
Schools need help, that’s for sure. They can’t do it all alone. The police, they gotta be involved. The parents, they gotta step up. And the community, we all gotta come together and say enough is enough.
I ain’t got all the answers, y’all. I’m just an old woman who’s seen a lot of things in her life. And what I’m seein’ now, it scares me. Kids killin’ kids. It ain’t right. It ain’t natural. And it gotta stop.
So, let’s start talkin’. Let’s start listenin’. Let’s start doin’ somethin’ about this Austin school shooting problem before it gets any worse. ‘Cause believe me, it can always get worse.
And one more thing, for goodness sake, put them guns away! They ain’t toys, and they ain’t the answer to nothin’. Go outside, get some fresh air, talk to your neighbors. Remember what it’s like to be a human being, not just some angry face behind a screen.
That’s all I gotta say. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about violence makes me hungry for some good old-fashioned comfort food.
Just remember, keep your kids safe, keep your schools safe, and keep your community safe. It ain’t rocket science. It’s just common sense, somethin’ that seems to be missin’ these days.
And for those school districts teamin’ up to discuss safety plans, good on ya! It’s about time. Now, let’s see if they can actually do somethin’ about it. I’m watchin’ ya!
