2014 Longhorn Football: Game-by-Game Analysis and Stats

Alright, listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about that 2014 Longhorn football, ya hear? Don’t know nothin’ ’bout fancy stats or them technical words, but I saw them games, I did. And lemme tell ya, it was a mixed bag, like a sack of potatoes with a few rotten ones thrown in.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Now, them boys, they had some fight in ’em, I’ll give ’em that. They ran hard, tackled harder sometimes, but winnin’, well, that was another story. Seemed like every time they got close, somethin’ would go wrong. Like that time you’re milkin’ the cow and she kicks the bucket over, just when you’re almost done. Frustratin’, real frustratin’.

  • The runnin’ game: Sometimes it was good, real good. Them boys would barrel through like a tractor in a plowed field. Other times, they couldn’t gain a yard to save their lives. Made ya wanna holler at the TV, I tell ya.
  • The passin’ game: Well, now, that was a whole ‘nother can of worms. Sometimes the ball would fly pretty, land right where it should. Other times, it was like throwin’ a rock in a swamp, nowhere near where it needed to be.
  • The defense: They had their moments, them boys did. Some games they were tough as nails, stoppin’ the other team cold. Other games, well, it was like watchin’ chickens scatter in the yard, all over the place.

Them Players

Heard tell of a fella named Shipley, a senior, they said. Been around a while, knew the ropes. And that Johnson fella, a junior, quick as a rabbit, they said. They was the main catchers, I reckon. Tried their best, I’m sure, but sometimes it just ain’t enough, ya know?

The Games, Oh, The Games

I remember watchin’ them games, sittin’ on the edge of my chair, nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Some games they won, and it felt good, like a warm cup of coffee on a cold mornin’. But them losses, they stung. Like gettin’ bit by a fire ant, it hurt for a while.

They played a whole bunch of games, I know that. Couldn’t tell ya the exact dates or nothin’, my memory ain’t what it used to be. But I ‘member the feelin’ of watchin’ ’em, the ups and downs, the hopes and the disappointments. It was a rollercoaster, that’s for sure.

Compared to the Old Days

Now, I ain’t no spring chicken, I seen a lot of Longhorn football in my day. Back in the old days, they was somethin’ else. Heard tell of that 1915 team, scorin’ near a hundred points in a game. Can ya imagine that? Ninety-two to nothin’! Why, that’s just unheard of these days. And even in ’74, they scored 81 points against TCU. Them were the glory days, I tell ya.

This 2014 team, they weren’t like them old teams. They had their moments, sure, but they weren’t consistent enough. Too many mistakes, too many missed opportunities. It’s like tryin’ to bake a cake with a bad recipe, it just don’t turn out right.

In Conclusion

So, that 2014 Longhorn football season, it was what it was. Not the best, not the worst. Just kinda… middle of the road. They had some good players, some good games, and some not-so-good games. It was a season of ups and downs, like life, I guess. You win some, you lose some. But you keep on goin’, keep on tryin’. That’s all you can do, right?

Looking Ahead

I always hope for the best for them Longhorns. They’re our team, after all. Hope they learn from their mistakes, get stronger, and come back fightin’ next year. That’s what I hope for. And maybe, just maybe, they’ll be as good as them old teams someday. One can dream, can’t they?

Anyways, that’s my take on it. Just an old woman’s thoughts on football. Probably ain’t worth much, but it’s honest, that’s for sure.
